Charlie Villanueva, best known as "Charlie V", is a retired NBA star, who was drafted 7th overall in the 2005 Draft by the Toronto Raptors and spent 11-year playing in the league. He was also a member of the remarkable 2004 NCAA UConn National Champion team. Throughout his professional career, he played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, plus he played the last two seasons of his career with the Dallas Mavericks; where he currently calls Dallas his home. Charlie is a first-generation Latino, son of Dominican Republic immigrants, raised in Queens, New York City. At age 10, Charlie was diagnosed with an autoimmune skin disease called alopecia areata, which results in hair loss on the scalp and elsewhere in the body. He has spent the last 15 years advocating for alopecia awareness and remains an ambassador for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF). Today, Charlie finds his success off the court as an entrepreneur and real estate investor. He founded his company, 824 TX Properties, and has built quite a portfolio in projects such as new construction, remodeling, flips, and rentals. In addition, he recently launched a new Intellectual Property (IP) development group focused on elevating and empowering the alopecia community through crypto-native assets across various mediums called, The Alopecians. Over the years, he has learned to understand the importance of ownership and now seeks to improve his growth in financial literacy in hopes of sharing his knowledge to help others from similar walks of life.
